DBA's

A company often has two names to it its corporate or official name, and its street name - that name which it is known by in the community it is doing business in whether physically located or on the web.

When the business is named something other than it's real name, the business must file a DBA Doing Business As. This allows for a registration of the business and for the public to be able to know who they are dealing with.

If you form a corporation and then do business under the same name, then a DBA is not needed; as an example my corporation is the Law Offices of David R. Schneider, APC. Because it is my name, I do not need a DBA.

If as an example I formed "The Business Formation Company" I would then be required to file a DBA, as no one would be able to tell from the name who was the running the business.

We can help you file your appropriate paperwork.
